Dr. Kiara Lee

 

Meet the Instructor

Dr. Kiara Lee is an assistant professor, teaching writing, rhetoric and critical thinking to college students. She is also a communication strategist, helping clients turn truth to power through authentic communication strategy and writing services with her consulting business, The House of Psalm. Kiara is the author of two children’s books that center social issues: “Light-Skinned, Dark-Skinned or In-Between?’ (colorism) and “Be a Man Tyrone: What Happens When Daddy Goes to Prison” (parental incarceration). She is also the author of a poetry book titled “She Forgot Who She Was: Poetry for Women Lost & Found.” Kiara is a winner of the Green Eye Shade Award for her piece titled “A Crooked Seat at the Table: Black and Alone in an Honors Class.” Her work has been featured on CNN and other platforms. She enjoys writing about social issues and the complicatedness of the human experience, among other things. Kiara is deeply invested in helping others discover and develop their writing voice.
