midnight & indigo celebrates Black women writers every day! Our new monthly Write-ins are a way to build community, write, and even share (only if you wish to) with other creatives.

In October, we'll celebrate Black Speculative Fiction Month! Black speculative fiction is an umbrella term that covers a variety of activities within the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres where people of the African diaspora take part or are depicted.

The intention? Black women writers of all speculative genres and experience levels are invited to join. Participants will be given a writing prompt, write independently for a while, then be invited to read their work aloud. You'll have an opportunity to get to know each other in smaller breakout groups, then we'll come back together to do it again.

Sessions are meant to be informal. So show up in your PJs if you want to or throw on your sweats. Bonnets and scarves are 100% welcome too!

No critiques will be provided. We'd love to see you there!

This write-in will be hosted by m&i. Space is limited.

Check out our full write-in calendar HERE.

All write-ins will be held via Zoom. The link to join your Zoom classroom will be provided on the morning of your session. Please check spam folders if you do not receive an email confirmation upon registration. For more information on how to download or use Zoom, please click here.

We offer full refunds for cancellation with written notice up until 7 days before your class start date. From 6 days to more than 24 hours before class begins, we offer a 50% refund. If you drop a class less than 24 hours before the class begins or after it has started, you are ineligible for a refund.
