As Black woman writers, we have experienced and continue to experience the effects of colonialism, or the domination of an entire group of people by an outside or foreign nation. Colonialism's past and present has imposed upon us a way of living, thinking and being that does not align (nor was intended to align) with our true selves.
Whether we know it or not, this can affect our writing voice.
In Decolonizing Our Writing Voice: A Workshop for Black women writers, we will begin the work of decolonizing our access to our full authentic writing voices and decolonizing our writing itself, revealing writing that is most true to who we are.
This workshop is open to all writing levels. If you’re ready to work toward unlocking the full potential of your writing and your full potential as a writer despite our unique challenges of the past, present and future, then this workshop is for you!.
All class meetings will be held via Zoom. The link to join your Zoom classroom will be provided on the morning of your class. Please check spam folders if you do not receive an email confirmation upon registration. For more information on how to download or use Zoom, please click here.
