TheLaunching Your Writing Careermasterclass is designed to provide Black women writers with practical tools to promote their work, expand their creative presence, and confidently pitch for collaborations. This workshop offers real-world insights and actionable steps to help you navigate your path as a writer.

Discover the heart of your creative purpose. We’ll dive deep into understanding your motivations and shaping your platform with intention. From reflecting on how your presence is perceived to refining your creative vision, this session will guide you in building a brand that resonates with your audience.

Learn how to make authentic connections and elevate your visibility. We'll explore effective promotional strategies, networking approaches, and actionable tips for pitching your work. Special attention will be given to how writers can leverage social media, particularly Instagram, to professionally showcase their work, using insights from my own self-publishing journey.

Open to beginner writers.

Meet Your Instructor:
Dhayana Alejandrina

Dhayana Alejandrina is a Dominican poet, speaker, community facilitator, and creative writing mentor. Her literary journey began at the age of nine in Santo Domingo and continued after immigrating to the U.S. in 2009. Her work, which centers on growth, culture, identity, and healing, has been featured in outlets such as the LA Times, Al Día Newspaper, #WeAllGrow Latina, Black Writers Weekend, and Penguin India Publishing. In 2021, she published 'Agridulce', a collection of prose and poetry that explores self-awareness through embracing emotions and lived experiences. Dhayana is also the founder of The Creative Hour, a space where writers and creatives gather to connect and work on their craft.

Course Expectations

  • Participants are encouraged to engage in discussions, reflect on their creative purpose, and actively participate in exercises that will help them apply the concepts to their own writing careers. There is no formal pre-work, but it would be helpful if participants have an Instagram account to refer to or are planning on launching their platform, Substack, or book. This masterclass can be incredibly helpful in shaping an intentional online presence and advancing their creative goals.

 

We offer full refunds for cancellation with written notice up until 7 days before your class start date. From 6 days to more than 24 hours before class begins, we offer a 25% refund. If you drop a class less than 24 hours before the class begins or after it has started, you are ineligible for a refund.
